David Haye is Back; and He Wants to Fight Tyson Fury

We are seeing a wave of old boxing talent get back into the ring and showcase their skills once more. Of course, one of the main reasons they do this is money, however one fighter to do it recently has gone a step further, to call out one of the biggest fighters in the world.

David Haye returned to the ring for an exhibition event against Joe Fournier, a fight that took place on a card in Florida. It wasn’t the only bout to feature former boxers, with the headline act being former champion Evander Holyfield, who was beaten by Vitor Belfort.

Most of these battles feature two ex-fighters going against each other, but now Haye wants to take his fighting to the next level. Not only by going up against one of the best heavyweights in the world right now, but also calling out someone who is known to not back down from a challenge.

What Now for Team GBs Olympic Medal Winning Boxers?

Team GB walked away with a fantastic haul of boxing medals from 2020, with six in total. This was the most since 1920, when boxing was an Olympic sport, but very different to what we see today, with fewer nations taking part.

The haul was impressive, and instantly Team GB boxing will be looking to build on what they have done for three years from now, when they contest the Olympics in Paris, in 2024. We don’t often see too many boxers returning for future games, each cycle is about inspiring the next generation of talent and hoping that some more world class competitors come through the ranks.

These boxers will have a lot of eyes on them, as people follow their career path after watching them at the Olympics.

What comes next is still to be determined, but those who turn pro will be the ones attracting the most interest. Some may even go elsewhere, potentially into the world of MMA, if they want to try something away from boxing, but still use some of their skills. Logan Paul: Who should he fight next?

Having fought against Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather almost two months ago, there will be a number of questions about who Logan Paul will face next inside a boxing ring.

Admittedly, his exhibition match against Mayweather was considered rather disappointing by many boxing fans, with many booing at the end of the contest, but Paul did manage to last the full contest without being stopped in the eight rounds that the bout lasted for.

The legendary boxer had praised Paul for his efforts at the end of the contest, however the YouTuber was left feeling rather questionable after the fight as he had been wondering whether ‘Money’ had let him survive the contest.

Nonetheless, that match is in the history books and he will now look to see what brother, Jake Paul, does when he meets former UFC welterweight champion Tyrone Woodley in Cleveland, Ohio, in August. What next for Billy Joe Saunders after Defeat to Canelo Alvarez?

It was hard to tell how much damage Billy Joe Saunders had after Canelo Alvarez had unleashed an extremely powerful uppercut to the Englishman’s right eye during their middleweight unification fight. Over 73,000 spectators in the AT&T Stadium in Texas, many in the arena believed that a significant blow had indeed been landed.

All It Takes Is One Punch

It was only after both fighters came out of their clinch that the worst-case scenario for Saunders had been confirmed. The 30-year-old’s eye closed up within seconds and his cheek appeared to be slightly caved in. Admirably, that didn’t stop Saunders from finishing the rest of the round before heading back to his corner to tell his trainer Mark Tibbs that he could no longer see. Team Saunders was left with no other option than to inform the referee that the Englishman was unable to continue. Jubilant scenes then followed in the ring as Alvarez was awarded the WBO super middleweight title by way of TKO. Meanwhile, Saunders was immediately transported to a local hospital in Dallas for emergency surgery as this post-fight report from talksport.com officially confirms.

It was a harsh end for Saunders, but he knows as much as anyone how tough this division can be. That’s not to say that the 30-year-old was ahead in the bout, all three judges had Alvarez winning the fight at the time of the stoppage, but he was boxing intelligently and avoiding most of the Mexican’s power shots.
