The type of outcome is factored in and even the judges’ scorecards, but there’s no “controversial flag”.

It’s strange because I remember checking this rankings just after Okami beat Bradley and it had actually computed, for both. I can’t remember exactly but placed Okami around #40, so it looked right.
I looked the ranks a couple of months after and he had been relegated to his place prior to beating Bradley, #57 or so, for no apparent reason.

Suzuki may be conidered a local fighter but he was ranked as high as #90 in 2016 by FightMatrix

By the way, Okami dropped from #24 to #89 for losing to Fitch (#27 WW) in his debut in the weightclass. Not sure if that’s legit, it may be but coupled with the Bradley thing it just seemed like a dissadjustment on the ranking of this guy.

    Thanks for the quick response

  7. jason August 19, 2018 at 10:59 pm Reply

Okami gained points from the Bradley win, but he seems to have gotten hit by the semi-annual nationality adjustment after the fight because he spent much of the year in Japan fighting local fighters. Will need to investigate further to see if that is legit.

  8. Delte August 19, 2018 at 10:59 pm Reply

There is a bug in your software, or seems to be. If so I detected one but it could mean there is more. Is there no human intervention checking this software generated rankings?

Okami’s win over Paul Bradley (#54 WW at the time) didnt computed in the rankings. Okami actually fell some spots after the win. Could someone explain this?

  9. Pandase August 19, 2018 at 10:59 pm Reply

How gets Jesse Taylor so much credit for exhibition bouts?

jcs, could you elaborate on that nationality adjustments thing? It affects TUF house somehow?

Actually looking at Taylor and Okami track in the ranks
Yushin lose to Fitch (#27 WW) by decision in a major org, drop from #24 MW to #75 WW (1/1/16)
JT lose to an unranked welter by first round sub in a minor org, drop from #30 MW to #53 WW (1/1/15)

Both fights were in America so I dont know what might cause such dissadjustment

Wow. Crazy that kampann is 2. This is one of those instances in which logical rankings just dont match up with what the computer kicks out; the most intriguing part of these rankings, I think.
My question is with the weight that the championship carries in the rankings, how is he above condit? Does that championship value not carry to the interim title?

Shields was a strong #2 when Ellenberger trounced him. Sanchez win doesn’t hurt his position either.

  37. John N. August 19, 2018 at 8:47 pm Reply

i didnt notice this before, but i dont see what has ellenberger ranked so highly. i guess because shields was ranked so highly.
imo, ellenbergers resume isnt as impressive (even with sanchez win) as the other top tenners.
i think hendricks should be 3 right now.
i was also hoping for a sanhez win. guess i wont get what i want.

I asked this in June but didn’t get much response… With the weight that the championship carries in the rankings, how WAS Kampmann above condit? Does that championship value not carry to the interim title? I would think it should.

I would have found it more interesting if Kampmann had defeated Hendricks and thus justified that ranking, but he did not.

I dont like GSP anymore after seeing him cheat I lost all respect and faith in his abilities as a fighter. And I heard that there’s a case against GSP seince that fight and if they find that he was cheating they’ll suspend his license so i have a question. “If GSP’s fighting license gets suspended or revoked because he cheated does he get taken off the rankings??”. . . But I think there’s so much contrversy surrounding this fight they should fight again. So that there wont be any questions about who’s truly the better fighter.

We adjust points by division now, so even though Diaz had less points at Middle.. he had more points at Welter.

  109. jason August 4, 2017 at 9:59 pm Reply

Okami is an unusual case… Have to determine whether his profile should be excluded from the nationality adjustments we do since he entered and exited in relatively quick fashion… plus considering his past UFC background.

Update: I did find an edge case issue… investigating potential alteration.

  110. Delte August 4, 2017 at 8:33 pm Reply

Okami gained points from the Bradley win, but he seems to have gotten hit by the semi-annual nationality adjustment after the fight because he spent much of the year in Japan fighting local fighters. Will need to investigate further to see if that is legit.

Chris Davis is 8-0 with 7 finishes, and won at BXC last month.

Eric Dahlberg is 8-1, with 7 finishes and a win over Douglas Lima, his last fight was 1 year ago.

    Food for thought

2-2 in his career with wins over 2 < .500 fighters.

Not only that, his losses haven't exactly been against world beaters. He has losses over Sakuraba and Chonan. Where did he get all those points from? Don Sik Yoon? How is he ahead of the likes of John Howard, Michael Guymon and many others?

the fight between karo parisyan and kim dong hyun was a no contest because of karo’s drug test results… why is there still a loss for kim dong hyun. ufc’s record shows 12-0-1

st-pierre dominates alves even with a injury so whats next joe silva says kampman swick winner if these were ufc rankings id say fitch since he won but really can gsp do good in the middlewieght division id like to see him go down win the lightweight title then challenge silva or whoever and retire

Silva is nasty but when you think about it GSP has a size advantage on most of the welterweights so i really could see him at 185 and not be in any trouble he probably walks around at 190 if not 200

Mike Swick is a good prospect for this and 185 if he keeps whoopin ass

Fitch lost only to st. pierre and fitch beat alves. alves beat hughes but he was overweight so that to me means fitch should be ranked higher. true neither of them can beat st. pierre but oh well i guess. St. Pierre vs Anderson Silva needs to happen (unless Silva loses to Forrest because then its kinda pointless)

this division getting to be just like the middlewieght nobody can beat rush alves might be the only one and that’s still a long shot sooner or later i think st-pierre will do as anderson silva and move up in weight class for a real fight

Sera? really? whatever we’ll see i guess. props to gsp who is a monster. hope he fights Anderson silva at some point. though he will lose.

The points are not division-specific. Aoki is ranked at welterweight because that is where he most recently fought.

Serra’s ranking is primarily due to a big win over GSP and his only loss since that fight being to GSP.

Kyle Pimental 6-0 Palace Fighting Championships

George Sotiropoulos 2-0 in UFC (9-2 overall) – should be ahead of Matt Riddle.

John Hathaway 11-0 Record (UFC 1-0) Hasn’t fought any big names yet but nobody can claim a double digit undefeated record at WW besides Hathaway, Bradley and Paulo Thiago.

- We update the rankings once per week, usually on Sunday or Monday.

- Fighters who have not fought in 450 days or more ARE NOT RANKED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

- Use the "Fighter Search" option in the upper-right of the page. The fighter may be ranked in a different division.

- Most of the divisions have multiple pages beyond this one. See the clickable ranges above and below the ranking table.
