YouTube star Jake Paul has carved something of a career for himself in the world of boxing. To date, Paul has contested three bouts and won them all, defeating fellow social media influencer AnEsonGib, former NBA star Nate Robinson and retired MMA fighter Ben Askren. All three victories came via knockout.

Now, however, he will face his biggest task to date as he goes toe to toe with another veteran of martial arts – ex-UFC fighter Tyron Woodley. Those keen to lay a wager on the match would do well to pick up some tips about UFC betting on howtobet.com, but does Jake Paul have what it takes to maintain his unbeaten record come August?

A closer look at Paul’s record

Paul’s boxing career kicked off in January 2020, when he knocked out fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib in just over two minutes. Next up was former NBA point guard Nate Robinson, who is perhaps best known for his time with the New York Knicks, but played with a total of eight NBA teams across an 11-year career in the competition. Paul took two rounds to dispatch Robinson, again with a knockout blow.

Paul’s third fight was supposed to be the one that would really test his mettle, since it was the first time he had faced another fighter. Although not a boxer by trade, Ben Askren did have a respectable MMA record and was expected to provide a stiff test for Paul, but in the event, the fight seemed little more than a money-spinning showpiece. Askren showed up out of shape, failed to land a glove on his opponent and went down from a hook in the first round, with the referee’s decision to call the fight a dubious one.

Woodley made of sterner stuff

By contrast, Tyron Woodley appears to be something closer to the real deal. He has been outspoken in his desire to “put the pain” on Paul, while the YouTuber was not his normal cocky self at their weigh-in earlier this month. Woodley has had an impressive career in the UFC, recording 19 wins in 27 professional bouts. He also held the welterweight title for three years and as recently as April, he was named as the fourth best welterweight in the history of the sport by ESPN.

Despite those strong credentials, Woodley has not been at his peak for some time now. He lost his welterweight belt in March 2019 and has lost three fights in a row since, considerably damaging his formidable record. He was released by UFC on the back of that poor streak and recently turned 39 years old, prompting the head of the UFC Dana White to question Paul’s choice of opponent as a credible threat. As such, Paul will be hoping that he can take advantage of his youth, power and reach to cause another upset and continue to carve out a boxing career of sorts.

While it might seem like any professional fighter would have the edge over a social media star, Jake Paul has already proven that those who write him off do so at their peril. It’s to be hoped that August’s extravaganza is at least more entertaining than his last bout against Ben Askren.
