UFC 332 Is Days Away. Here’s What Kansas Sportsbook Promos Look Like for MMA Fans Who Bet With Data

Fight Matrix’s own program for UFC 332: Silva vs. Wang is already up, and it’s the kind of preview this site exists to produce: every fight on the Delta Center card in Salt Lake City run through three separate rating systems before a single bell rings. The bantamweight bout between Deiveson Figueiredo and Payton Talbott is the headline name-value matchup, but the systems themselves are more interested in the middleweight pairing further down the card.

Where the Numbers Actually Disagree

Roman Kopylov enters his October 3 fight against Ateba Abega Gautier as the betting underdog on the board, priced at roughly -195 the other way. Fight Matrix’s three computerised systems don’t see it that way at all. Elo Modified has Kopylov rated at 1802.02 against Gautier’s lower number, good for a 63.8% win probability. Glicko-1 has him at 1861.45, a 63.4% favourite. The Whole-History Rating system, which weighs a fighter’s entire career rather than just recent form, is the most lopsided of the three at 66.6%. All three algorithms disagree with the sportsbook line on who should actually be favoured, which is precisely the kind of gap that makes this card worth running through a model before placing anything.

The Same Discipline, Applied to a Promo Code

That same instinct, don’t take a number at face value until you’ve checked what’s actually behind it, is exactly what’s worth applying to sportsbook promos in Kansas during a weekend like this one. BetMGM operates in the state through its licensing partnership with Kansas Crossing Casino, one of seven sportsbooks currently licensed and live in Kansas since the market launched in September 2022. A welcome promo looks identical on a banner ad regardless of which book is running it. What varies, often by a wide margin, is what the terms actually pay out once odds minimums, rollover requirements and expiry windows get applied, the exact kind of fine print a Fight Matrix reader would never accept at face value on a betting line.

Reading the Fine Print Like a Ranking

Treat a promo’s headline number the way this site treats a sportsbook’s moneyline: a starting point, not the answer. Elo Modified, Glicko-1 and WHR don’t always agree with each other, as the Kopylov fight shows, and a promo’s advertised value rarely matches what actually lands in an account once bonus bets, minimum-odds restrictions and time limits are factored in. Comparing Kansas sportsbook promos properly means doing to the fine print what these three systems do to a fight: running it through more than one lens before deciding which number to trust.

Fight Week Math

By Saturday night, Fight Matrix’s numbers on Figueiredo-Talbott, Kopylov-Gautier and the rest of the UFC 332 card will either hold up or get blown apart, the usual risk of publishing a model before the data exists. The same scrutiny applied to a welcome offer rarely blows up in the same way. It just tells a bettor, Kansas or otherwise, whether the number on the banner was ever the real one to begin with.

Why Three Systems Instead of One

The reason Fight Matrix runs Elo K170, Elo Modified, Glicko-1 and WHR side by side instead of settling on one number is the same reason a single sportsbook promo shouldn’t be judged on its headline figure alone. Each rating system weighs recent form, strength of opposition and career longevity differently, which is why Kopylov’s win probability moves from 63.28% under Elo K170 to 66.6% under WHR depending on how much credit the model gives his career arc versus his last three fights, a stretch in which he’s gone 1-2. Reduce that to a single output and you lose the disagreement that actually tells you something useful. The same logic applies to reading a promo’s terms line by line rather than taking the advertised headline number as the full picture; the gap between the two tells you more than either figure alone.

What Figueiredo-Talbott Adds to the Card

The Figueiredo-Talbott bantamweight bout carries its own version of that disagreement. Figueiredo, a former UFC flyweight champion now campaigning at bantamweight, comes in on a two-fight skid against ranked opposition, while Talbott is unbeaten against everyone but Raoni Barcelos and sits as a heavy -664 favourite on the sportsbook line. Fight Matrix’s models see it closer than the board does, with Elo K170 giving Figueiredo a 55.95% edge despite the lopsided moneyline. That’s the kind of split a Fight Matrix reader checks before a card even starts, and it’s the same instinct worth carrying into any Kansas promo comparison this weekend: the number everyone sees first is rarely the number that actually matters most.
