#2…

Matt Hughes (Rep Avg: #18 | Fight Matrix: #4)

The greatest Welterweight fighter in history not named Georges St. Pierre and to us, the best fighter aside from GSP below Middleweight.  Dominated the division for years and hung in the pound-for-pound list for quite a while as well.  Many title defenses, a very respectable 18-fight win streak with 45 in all.

If the much lower regarded Dennis “Hughes Kryptonite” Hallman never existed, he would’ve went 41-2 before his late career fade.  The ascent of Aldo and Jones will likely see Hughes leave the Top 5 by the end of 2015, but you can’t deny his longtime dominance.

Before asking where a specific fighter is ranked or why they aren't ranked:

- We update the rankings once per week, usually on Sunday or Monday.

- Fighters who have not fought in 450 days or more ARE NOT RANKED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

- Use the "Fighter Search" option in the upper-right of the page. The fighter may be ranked in a different division.

- Most of the divisions have multiple pages beyond this one. See the clickable ranges above and below the ranking table.

Furthermore, we do not maintain the "next fight" data. This is gathered from Sherdog. Any issues regarding this data should be forwarded to them.
