Curran has been inactive for more than 450 days, therefore he is not ranked.

I noticed that Roy “Big Country” Nelson is ranked #30, yet undefeated Josh “BuffaloHead” Curran, who beat him isn’t even ranked. What gives? Besides, when are we gonna see Buffalohead fight again? The most entertaining fight I’ve ever seen. Plus, the guy’s a single father of 4 and 2 weeks before the fight was flipping burgers at Denny’s. Gotta root for a guy like that.

Where did you see that we only consider three years? We consider entire careers, it just so happens that Mark Hunt only loses to high-level competition.. so he’s stuck between the quality of fighters the system believes he can beat and the quality of those who can beat him.

Why is Mark Hunt ranked #30? He has lost his last five MMA (usually within a couple of minutes), and hasn’t won in more than three years. I thought these rankings are based on the last three years?

how is John “Doo Doo” Brown not ranked?

Jacques - Its all a pretty complex situation that I will be researching further to make sure everything is OK at the granular level. I will gladly address it in the forum.
To make a long story short, the rating points you see are not all that’s behind determining the resulting ratings of fighters involved in a bout. Upon losing, Kongo’s rating points (at #10) were considered a bit of an inconsistency, so he was susceptible to a harsher drop, while Sylvia (at #15) was a pretty “solid” placing for him. Furthermore, we have adjustments for debuting fighters who really burst onto the scene — but also have adjustments for guys like Velazquez that may need tweaked.
Two of the hardest things to handle are quick rising undefeated fighters, and debuting fighters who burst onto the scene with a big win — In a perfect world, Top 15 Sylvia never, ever faces Mercer in an MMA bout… and especially doesn’t lose it.

I actually wondered about what would happen if a no one beat a guy in the top 20. Would the no one get ranked way higher than he should or would the top 20 fighter drop like a rock. Well it appears I got my answer. Ray Mercer has no place in the top 20. Sylvia should have dropped like a rock. I’m just wondering how Kongo can drop 11 spots when he went 3 rounds with a better fighter and Sylvia only dropped 4 spots getting knocked out by a 48 year old former boxer with no MMA skills. He wore boots in the ring for crissakes. I guess my question is how can Mercer get so much credit and Sylvia not get panalized just as much for the brutal knock out.

I understand why he’s there, but it’ll take me a while to get used to Ray Mercer in the heavyweight top twenty.

Arlovski was also a better win than Kongo… even aside from the type of win.

1 Victory got Brett Rogers in the top 10. Sure his was a quick knock out but Cain dominated that whole fight and Kongo is at the 10 spot right now.
