That’s a strange signing.. she has 1 win over a debut fighter according to Sherdog… but she is supposedly 5-0.

  3. uwotm8 August 19, 2018 at 10:50 pm Reply

These rankings don’t make sense. How can you have Rin Nakai #7 p4p, yet you have Lauren Murphy, Julianna Pena, Jessica Eye, Sara McMann, and Miesha Tate ahead of her on your women’s bantamweight rankings.

  4. brokensproket August 19, 2018 at 10:50 pm Reply

In the ranking, you have Lauren Taylor. And Lauren Taylors fight is with Lauren Murphy, not Miriam Nakamoto. I see what you did there.

  5. David Street August 19, 2018 at 10:50 pm Reply

Invicta FC 7: Lists Lauren Taylor as Lauren Murphy? vs. Miriam Nakamoto. I love this fight! But is this a spelling error?

  6. Puzzled August 19, 2018 at 10:50 pm Reply

Why isn’t Miriam Nakamoto on this list? I know she’s only had 3 MMA fights, but 3 KO’s not to mention 10 World Titles in Muay Thai and an undefeated record there as well, I mean come on! If Holly Holm is good enough to be ranked then Miriam should be too.

  7. jason August 19, 2018 at 10:50 pm Reply

    I have Berezikova/Benitez at 130.

  8. brokensproket August 19, 2018 at 10:50 pm Reply

As the women’s Bantamweight division gets deeper, is it likely that the rankings gets deeper to the top 30????

  9. jason August 19, 2018 at 10:50 pm Reply

Those TUF results alternate timeline I posted earlier treat them as ‘full consideration bouts’. However, due to the decreased length and other factors.. when we go live with including them, they will not get this full consideration.

  10. jason August 19, 2018 at 10:50 pm Reply

Only MMA results are considered and Nakamoto is 2-0, not 3-0.

  11. Chromium August 19, 2018 at 10:50 pm Reply

Um… are you absolutely sure Julia Berezikova isn’t a Flyweight? Her last opponent, Karla Benitez, has only ever fought at Flyweight and Strawweight as far as I know.

You’d hold a majority decision loss over Davis’s head, 3+ years later? You don’t work for FICO, do you? She hasn’t lost decisively in nearly 5 years aside from Rousey and stays active against top competition. Suppose you could say the same for Kaufman, but in reality, they are only 7 points apart.

Davis is due a small hit very soon. Should drop her below Tate, but not sure about Kaufman. UFC rankings agree with Davis over Kaufman and I don’t necessarily agree that Tate/Zingano have to be above Davis from a subjective standpoint.

Many talented females come from West-coast fighting championships and should receive a spot on this list. http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Kelly-McGill-170067

Pannie Kianzad, Agnieszka Niedźwiedź, DeAnna Bennett, Jessy Rose-Clark, Tonya Evinger, Gina Carano, Barb Honchak, Miriam Nakamoto, Cindy Dandois.

I do not want neither: Cristiane Justino Cyborg, nor.. Carina “Barbie” Damm both I think will go back to banned substances II hear Damm’s brother been pushing for her.

Also hear many are talking about UFC should sign WWE superstar Eve Torres Gracie she is lovely and can fight, Gracie trained pro wrestling star. I hope she does join CM Punk and come over to the real fight world.

Read the snippet at the top of the P4P rankings. They use a different methodology. Also, Nakai started at 125… and took a divisional points hit when she came up to 135 (higher weight). There could be an issue I’m not aware of, but other than that… see above. Will look into it.

EDIT: There was a bug affecting Nakai…. fixed and updated. She is #15.

    It obviously has some bugs.
    Alexis Davis at #2 ??
    Holly Holm at #8 ??
I realize these things can be subjective, but you claim to use an objective model.
Holly Holm has 1 quality win in MMA
Alexis Davis is good, but has more losses and lost head to head vs. Sarah Kaufman.

Legacy FC is saying the next big thing in Women’s Bantam weight is this Kyrgyz Republic kickboxer star, Valentina Shevchenko. They got her signed back to back fights with Jan Finney and Carina Damm. They keep saying she is 9-1 in MMA but I think most of that is AMMY or unsanctioned fights. most I see her rated as is 2-1.

EDIT: There was a bug affecting Nakai…. fixed and updated. She is #15.

These rankings don’t make sense. How can you have Rin Nakai #7 p4p, yet you have Lauren Murphy, Julianna Pena, Jessica Eye, Sara McMann, and Miesha Tate ahead of her on your women’s bantamweight rankings.

@David: they’re both interesting prospects but in both cases the strength of schedule has been pretty goddamn weak, and Women’s Bantamweight is an increasingly deep division. Consider that Tara Larosa only just _barely_ made the cut. FightMatrix uses the entire Sherdog database to calculate it’s rankings among active fighters, so it’s not like JCS “forgot” Niedzwiedz or Dufresne.

Alexis Dufresne UFC Signed she was not even on my radar. Agnieszka Niedzwiedz also at 5-0 has been on my top ten non-ufc list for a long time, she should be on your list too.

Those TUF results alternate timeline I posted earlier treat them as ‘full consideration bouts’. However, due to the decreased length and other factors.. when we go live with including them, they will not get this full consideration.

And again, how is Miriam Nakamoto not ranked? She’s clearly better than most of these women and should be in the top 5. Even though her fight with Jessamyn Duke was later overturned to a NC doesn’t mean she isn’t better than Duke, Hell, she was kicking the crap out of Lauren Murphy before she blew her knee out, how are both of these women ranked ahead of her and she isn’t ranked at all? And how is Holly Holm ranked at all?

  78. bj December 3, 2013 at 5:29 pm Reply

Thanks. Yes, I’d include the fights to get into the house, there were some upsets there. So that’s eight fights to get into the house plus six fights during the season. (I’m not interested in the men’s side.)

  79. jason December 3, 2013 at 3:59 pm Reply

    Pena is #38.

Will look into the alternate timeline request… Do the qualifying results (to get into the house) count as well in this alternate timeline?

  80. bj December 3, 2013 at 3:53 pm Reply

I was wondering what Pena’s rank is now? She was #63 flyweight and beat #43 flyweight Rakoczy, so I’m thinking she can’t be higher than around #50 bantamweight? And yet she beat #13 bantamweight Bazler on the show. I guess there are similar things, like unranked Pennington beating #18 bantamweight Duke. Maybe you could give us a list of where all the TUF competitors are now?

I don’t know if this is possible, but could you run an alternate timeline where all the TUF fights counted on their records (including the fights to get into the house)? I know the TUF house is a different environment, but most of the women have been in so few fights, I thought that including them might give us a better idea of their true ranking.

it would be nice to see the rankings expanded even if its just to a top 25. this division is only going to get deeper.

Invicta FC 7: Lauren “Murphy” vs. Miriam Nakamoto for Invicta’s Bantam weight belt, meaning we will not see these great fighters in the UFC… Also shows the return of Kelly Kobold (18-3) I wonder if we will see the return of Adrienna Jenkins (17-5) next, Kellys old adversary.. neither of them officially retired did they? They were the best in womens Bantam at one time at least at the top…

not a stupid question. Beth & Cabbage may not be related, nor do I think Miesha Tate and Jennifer Tate are, Jennifer who is 6-1 has just got back from Thailand she plans on coming back to fighting, UFC, WSOF or Invicta should be fighting for her. Now Kyra Gracie is related, she plans on moving into mma just waiting on the right offer. Also, Women’s Bantam has Emily Klinefelter & her sister Katy both are undefeated and climbing the charts, last I heard.

Upon researching, it appears you are correct, my mistake, although I’d give Benitez the one-fight exception rule since I think it’s unlikely she stays at that weight.
