UFC 169 was branded “10-decision, record-breaking catastrophe”, and the usual slamming of boring fighters, safe game planning soon followed.

Every time too many fights on a card drag too long, reach a decision or overall feel like the fighters are not making enough of an effort to try and finish, accusations are directed at them for not having the required ‘killer instinct’, not caring enough about the fans, or just being too calculated and careful in their fighting style.  This is especially true regarding high profile fights, like championship bouts and main events.

I think what I’m about to say is quite obvious and is really known to everybody, but somehow I just don’t hear it enough, so I feel the need to state it out clearly:

THIS IS NOT THE FIGHTERS’ FAULTS!

You can’t blame anyone who is playing any kind of game or competing in any kind of competition for trying their best to win, and to keep on winning.  You can’t blame a basketball player for trying to score hoops, you can’t blame a football player for trying to score touchdowns, and you can’ t blame an MMA fighter for trying to win rounds, because this is the way to win fights.

Boxing betting is one of the most widespread and followed in all of sports betting. Whether you are playing in a new live casinos or online casinos, you would often hear people talking about how they won a fortune with a gamble on their favorite boxer.

Before entering the boxing betting arena,here are the basic rules and tips that might help you survive among the crowd of seasoned gamblers.

Basic Boxing Betting Rules:

1. For a boxing bout to be categorized as “action”, the fight must take place within the window period. Most casinos would list the date and give it one week. Online casinos give a larger window of up to a month. Otherwise, it will be graded as “no action”.
2. Venue shifts within the country will not affect any wagers. However, if the boxing match is changed to an overseas location, “no action” on all pending wagers will be called.
3. In case of “no contest” or “no decision”, all bets will be refunded. This can happen when changes on the details of the fight are made when betting has officially started. However, a change in title to a non-title match will not affect the betting game.
4.  The result of betting will be depending only on the outcome on the date of the fight. Any disqualification or sanctions due to testing positive on prohibited drugs, incorrect scoring or granted appeals, will have no bearing on wagers.
5. All bets will also be returned in case of a draw, when this result is not a betting option. Otherwise, all bets lose.
6. If you bet on a TKO win, result of the fight should be any of the following: Technical Knockout, Knockout or Disqualification. The latter was considered a TKO for wagering or betting purposes.
7. If you bet on number of rounds, the halfway mark is reached when clock ticks at 1:30 for men and 1:00 for women boxing matches
8. If you bet on a fighter to win, the bet is also a winner if the fighter ends up winning by either a premature ending of the match or a decision following a full-scheduled bout.
9. When the bell rings to signal the first round, the boxing match is deemed official for betting purposes.

With the score tied between teams at 6 wins each, Team Sonnen took both wins, sending two teammates to face off in the finale as Kevin Gastelum choked out Josh Samman in the first round, and Uriah Hall stopped Dylan Andrews with ground-and-pound in the second.

Final win tally is Team Sonnen 8, Team Jones 6.

Check out the latest episode of Uncut Sports Show: TUF Episode 8 Recap; Don Frye accuses UFC of fixing some of Brock Lesnar’s fights.

Well Episode 5 of TUF 17 did not disappoint. Jon Jones training partner Bubba McDaniel was going up against Kelvin Gastelum. McDaniels who is probably the most experienced fighter and talker in the house, had in many people’s minds the easy task of taking on the far less experienced Gastelum. Gastelum had a little extra motivation when Ronda Rousey told him that she would come out to Vegas to teach a lesson if he defeated McDaniel, and that’s exactly what he did. In a back and forth match, McDaniels snagged a rear naked choke and submitted McDaniels for the upset. This episode showed that this seasons TUF is full of entertaining twists, and also is appealing to the mainstream eye by including Ronda Rousey, and Mickey Rourke who showed up to chat with the fighters.

In other MMA News, several fighters were cut from the UFC this week, including Jon Fitch and Vladimir Matyushenko.

In addition, almost every fighter that was a loser at UFC on Fuel TV 7 was let go. Guess they need to make way for the lighter weight classes, and female fighters that will soon be a part of the crop. Anderson Silva has stated that he would be willing to drop to 170 lbs to have a superfight with GSP, and he said making the weight would be no problem. I’m sure Georges St-Pierre is happier than shit about this, yeah right.

Remember Josh Barnett rejected the offer the UFC made him. Well he’s finally come out and said why he rejected the contract, and why he will no longer be facing JDS at UFC 160. Barnett said it had to do with the legal battle between Bellator (Alvarez’ former employer) and the UFC over Eddie Alvarez services, which became public record. The UFC was offering a $250,000 signing bonus and a percentage of pay-per-view earnings if Alvarez fought for the UFC title or captured the belt.

Barnett, speaking via MMAJunkie, said:
“I was excited to fight Junior. I thought he was a favorable match up for me, but Zuffa was unwilling to give me something that they gave Eddie Alvarez. No disrespect to Eddie, but I felt it was fair to give it to me as well. Although things seem to be working out well for me, I feel bad for the fans. They wanted me to fight certain guys in the UFC and I really wanted to give them those fights. Once we get the deal we are working on done, the fight the fans scream for will be lost forever.”

We at FightMatrix are constantly working to improve the site.  However, this is not our full-time gig, so we are also constantly looking for ways to make the site more profitable, which will ultimately allow us to apply more focus to the site and improve it even more.

We are bouncing around the idea of a paid feature, which will allow fighter managers or representatives to “own” a fighter in our database.  This will allow them to publish contact info in the “hover over” record within the ranking pages, so that other reps can contact said fighters for fights.  Of course, we also plan to add additional features to support this:

• An extended profile page with the ability for managers to add “additional information” regarding fight bookings — desired weights and locations for example.
• A small logo on the ranking pages to show that manager/rep info is available.
• Filter on the ranking pages to show only fighters with manager/rep information.
• Filter on the ranking pages to show only fighters with a home location (configurable by the manager/rep) in X miles of a set location in an attempt to make it easier to fill local fight cards.
• A “holding pen” to allow support for unranked and inactive fighters.
• Some other stuff we haven’t thought of yet….

As far as pricing goes, we’re looking at somewhere in the vicinity of $15-$20/year for the first fighter and slightly less for each additional.  Perhaps we will also sell in blocks of 5 or 10 for more savings.
