Top 5 Contenders For The UFC Heavyweight Championship in 2022

Posted on April 22, 2022 by A. J. Riot

Will The UFC Heavyweight Championship Belt Change Hands This Year?

The UFC is one of the most competitive fighting competitions in the world and anyone who earns a championship title knows that they could lose it in their very next fight.  The UFC is the leading Mixed Martial Arts fighting company in the world. They host fights across the globe but are based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Many of the biggest names in the MMA scene are part of the UFC roster.

At the start of each year, we like to speculate what championship belts are going to be changing hands and today we are going to focus on the Heavyweight Championship belt.

Heavyweight fighters in the UFC must weigh between 206 and 265 lbs. The current Heavyweight Champion is Francis Ngannou. He won the title in 2021 and has defended it once since.

Note – Ngannou had surgery in March 2022 and will not be fighting for at least 10 months. This means that the undisputed Heavyweight Title may not be up for grabs this year; however UFC may introduce another interim title as they often do.

Do you think that Ngannou will hold onto his title when he returns? You can find the best MMA odds on upcoming fights here.

The Most Popular Kiwi MMA Fighters

Posted on March 23, 2022 by A. J. Riot

MMA fights are indeed exciting and full of adrenaline rush. Fans suggest that it is one of those sports in which one cannot keep on sitting and watching the games. The roots of MMA had originated in Australia, as a crossing of multidisciplinary sports, from traditional martial arts to wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Kickboxing.

However, the enthusiastic sport found its place among the Kiwis and was recognized as a legal sport in March 2016 with a governing body in New Zealand, ‘The New Zealand Mixed Martial Arts Federation (NZMMAF).’ The NZMMAF has also issued safety protocols and laws for ensuring the safety of the fighters.

MMA fighting brought with it a positive surge in the betting industry, where Kiwis love to wager on their trusted players such as Adesanya, Hooker, etc. Moreover, the MMA players have also occupied significant status in society. Players like Adesanya have also used their stardom to stand against the evils of racism, promoted by the New Zealand bureaucracy. Check the most popular NZ fighters below:

Who Are The Top MMA Fighters to Promote GamStop?

Posted on March 23, 2022 by A. J. Riot

Gambling surely is an exciting game, which triggers adrenaline rush, excitement, and fun. But behind the glittering aspect of gambling, there often lies the darker scenario of problem gambling and gambling addiction. The people of the UK have been in love with the thrilling game of gambling since the Tudor and Stuart era(16th century England) and has been much popularised to date. According to the 2021 reports published by the government, around 0.5% of the adult gamblers are dealing with the issue of problem gambling, around 3.8% are at extreme risk level, and almost 7% of the population are negatively impacted due to the actions of gambling.

However, the introduction of the self-exclusion program, GamStop in 2018 has enabled responsible gambling to a great extent. Self-exclusion programs, such as GamStop abstain the user from using any gambling programs, websites, etc. for a specific period(6 months/1 year/ 5 years) as selected by the user.

Sporting industries such as Mixed Martial Arts(MMA) have shared a complementary bond with GamStop. However, as this self-exclusion program works only with UK based providers and there are many available non GamStop online bookmakers even in the United Kingdom, it will be a good gesture to cooperate more with all popular programs around the world. This is so because such an active industry as MMA paves way for thousands of gamblers to participate daily. Thereby, there is often a risk of leading to gambling addiction, or gambling among the fans, as well as the players.

UFC 273 Features Title Defenses & Scores to Settle

Posted on March 17, 2022 by A. J. Riot

There’s not just one but two title belts up for grabs at UFC 273, scheduled to be held on April 9 at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. Headlining what promises to be a superb UFC 273 fight card, Alexander ‘The Great’ Volkanovski will mount his third defense of his UFC Featherweight title, taking on Jung ‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung.

Since his first bout in the UFC, Australian fight favorite Volkanovski has certainly lived up to his moniker, boasting a great unbeaten record in the biggest MMA promotion of them all. But while the former rugby player will be tipped to win his next bout, The Korean Zombie has also earned his nickname, able to withstand a beating and keep on coming.

The second title bout of the night features unfinished business and a fearsome rivalry, as Aljamain ‘Funk Master’ Sterling embarks upon his first defense of the UFC Bantamweight title. At UFC 259 in March 2021, he became the first competitor in the UFC to win a title via disqualification, when reigning champion was disqualified for an illegal knee.

Given the unfinished business between these two proud fighters, and following several attempts to organize the inevitable rematch last year, Sterling and Yan finally go head-to-head in the octagon at UFC 273. This will be the first UFC Bantamweight title defense for Sterling, while Yan won his last bout against Cory Sandhagen for the interim championship.

Could Francis Ngannou really make the switch from UFC to boxing?

Posted on February 28, 2022 by A. J. Riot

Two-time world heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury has continued to call out UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, with aspirations for a crossover fight between the pair to be held sometime next year. Although Fury has been locked in negotiations over his next boxing fight with British heavyweight rival Dillian Whyte, the “Gypsy King” has maintained that he is going to “fight Francis Ngannou in Las Vegas next year”.

Are there any contenders who can topple Ngannou?

Posted on February 15, 2022 by A. J. Riot

Known as “The Predator”, there are few mixed martial artists as devastating and famous as Francis Ngannou right now. Currently fighting in the UFC, Ngannou has everything you would want in an MMA athlete at this weight. Strong and tough, he also has true knockout power. His right-hand is the stuff of legend and he has used his powerful strike to knock out many of his opponents.

Although a two-fight losing blip did tarnish Ngannou’s record somewhat, there is no doubt he has roared back into full form since. This culminated in a superb win over Ciryl Gane at UFC 270 recently. While the fighter’s win was no surprise per se, the way he used groundwork skills to achieve it was, to many. By adding this to his locker, it leaves him as a truly powerful competitor who many see dominating the heavyweight division in UFC, assuming his contract issues are resolved.

But are there any contenders out there who might topple him?

Losing to Covington Could End Masvidal’s UFC Career

Posted on January 28, 2022 by A. J. Riot

Licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 2.0

Professional fighters risk everything each time they step into the octagon, but the upcoming fight between Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington could be a career-ender for the former. The welterweights are set to stand toe-to-toe with each other at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, at UFC 272 on March 5, with one MMA expert predicting this could be the end of the road for Masvidal if he does not come away with a victory.

Chael Sonnen, a former professional MMA star who has turned his attention to the world of MMA analysis, claims the upcoming bout has the potential to be a career-ending fight for Masvidal. Sonnen said on his popular YouTube channel, “In all fairness, I’ve really got to show respect to Masvidal because this is a career-ending fight. It is that big of a deal. There will be that much attention, and that much focus, and that much hatred going into this battle that Jorge, who is the second biggest draw in combat right now, who’s coming off of two defeats, if he goes out there and he gets taken down, and he gets mauled for 25 minutes, it is going to take a lot of luster off of the shine that is the No. 2, the sport’s second-biggest draw, the BMF, Jorge Masvidal.” Keep Reading

5 Of The Most Dominant Champions In UFC History

Posted on January 12, 2022 by A. J. Riot

Ever since the start of the UFC, it has been home to some of the most dominant fighters that the world has ever seen. There have been many fighters who aren’t just good at fighting, they’re also good at grabbing onto any belt in sight and holding onto it for dear life.

Today we’re taking a look at five athletes whose careers showed that kind of unstoppable dominance, even if they did get stopped in the end. If you’re part of the betting crowd, you should consider checking out Fanduel’s UFC fights odds. If any of the fighters below show up, you know who to put your money on.

1. Anderson Silva

Anderson Silva holds the longest title reign in the UFC. If that isn’t dominance, we don’t know what is.

Along with being one of the pioneers of the UFC during its rise to prominence, Silva won the UFC middleweight championship in just his second fight, which was against Rich Franklin at UFC 64. Then the challengers came – and he beat them all.

Dan Henderson, Forrest Griffin, Chael Sonnen, Vitor Belfort, Stephan Bonnar, all of them were repelled by Silva across six whole years. He would finally be defeated in 2013, after 16 victories as champion. This was where Chris Weidman scored lucky punches against Silva while he was showboating.

When Silva lost the title, he had held it for 2,457 days.
