Currently, all other weight divisions are represented in the men’s Top 10.
We have not seen a Flyweight in the Division Dominance list since Shinichi Kojima, who exited due to his loss to Jussier Da Silva on July 19, 2009. The current #1 (and all-time #1) Flyweight, Mamoru Yamaguchi, isn’t even in sniffing distance of the Top 10. This is mainly due to divisional parity caused by the lack of top-notch matchmaking within the division, Japan’s love of 10-10 rounds, and an increase in Flyweight bouts on American soil with no real direction.
Yamaguchi does have a chance to make a charge at the list as he is expected to take on Jussier da Silva (#8) on August 5. Though, Ian McCall (#4) will be taking on Darrell Montague (#10) within the same card. As Alexis Vila leaves to enter the Bellator Bantamweight division, this may create a 3-headed dragon at Flyweight with Yamaguchi, McCall, and Yasuhiro Urushitani. If McCall and Yamaguchi both were to lose, than the situation further worsens.
Will someone please create a globally important Flyweight tournament?
In Episode 8, the first two quarter-final fights took place, with Team Lesnar and Team Dos Santos splitting the wins. Team Lesnar’s Chris Cope defeated Shamar Bailey with a 20-18 unanimous decision, while Team Dos Santos’ Ramsey Nijem forced a tapout from Clay Harvison with a rear naked choke in the first round.
Next week the remaining two quarter-final fights will take place, and semi-final matchups will be announced.
The current win tally is 5 Team Dos Santos, 5 Team Lesnar.

Only 1 spot separate these two fighters in the Fightmatrix rankings.
In extreme obscurity, Travis Fulton apparently had another MMA fight on 3/19/2011 against John McElroy (who he had previously beaten). Fulton won by submission in the 1st round.
This brings Fulton’s record (in the FightMatrix database, anyway) to 249-48-10. Who knows what his real record is.

Jay Hieron (22 – 4 – 1) won an extremely close and contentious split decision over Rick Hawn (11 – 1 – 0). Round 1 belonged to Hieron, who out-struck his Olympic foe for the first 5 minutes. Round 2 started to swing in Hawn’s favor. It was this round that would cause the fight to be such a close call. Hawn stalked the backpedaling Hieron and struck him often throughout the 3rd round. It was not enough to make the judges see the fight in his favor. Hieron, who is on a 10 fight winning streak, holds his ranking at [#10]. He will now face Bellator welterweight champion [#21] Ben Askren for the title. Hawn, who tasted defeat for the first time, moved up 4 spots from [#49] to [#45].

Baker, who on a 2 fight win streak (9-1- in his last 10), moves 7 spots up from [#37 ] to [#30]. Baker will be in the Bellator season 5 middleweight tournament.
