UFC vets battled when John Salter (7 – 2 – 0) defeated Kalib Starnes (12 – 7 – 1) by TKO due to punches at 4:13 of round 2.  Salter, who has back to back wins following his release from the UFC last August (after going 1-2 in the promotion), jumps 29 spots up the ranks from [#83] to [#54].  Starnes, who has back to back losses (2-3 in his last 5), drops 28 spots from [#100] to [#128].

Light Heavyweight (205 lbs)

Robert Drysdale (3 – 0 – 0) defeated Mike Nickels (9 – 5 – 0) by submission due to a guillotine choke at 1:04 of round 1.  Drysdale, who has rattled off 3 1st round submissions in a row, flies 55 spots up the ranks from [#144] to [#89].  Nickels, who is 1-3 in his last 4, falls 39 spots from [#108] to [#147].

Welterweight (170 lbs)

Julio Cesar dos Santos (4 – 2 – 1) defeated Ricardo de Oliveira (1 – 1 – 0) by technical unanimous decision.  Dos Santos was on a 4 fight winning streak at this point, losing in the finals to Bruno Santos.  De Oliveira, who fought his first 2 pro bouts on this night (winning earlier in the quarterfinals of the 8 man Middleweight GP) remains unranked.

Ricardo de Oliveira (1 – 1 – 0) defeated Joao Paulo Moura (2 – 3 – 0) by TKO due to punches at 4:33 of round 1.  This was De Oliveira’s first (recorded) pro MMA bout.  He went on to lose in the semifinals to Julio Cesar dos Santos.  Moura, who is 1-3 in his last 4, remains unranked.

Julio Cesar dos Santos (4 – 2 – 1) defeated Andre Muniz (0 – 1 – 0) by TKO due to doctor stoppage at 5:00 of round 1.  Dos Santos went on to defeat Ricardo de Oliveira in the semifinals, then lost in the finals to Bruno Santos.  Muniz, who fought his first pro bout tonight, remains unranked.

Middleweight (185 lbs)

Vitor Nobrega (11 – 5 – 0) defeated Patrick Filex (2 – 3 – 0) by submission due to punches at 2:30 of round 1.  Nobrega went on to lose to eventual winner of the GP Bruno Santos in the semifinals.  Filex, who had back to back wins prior to this loss, remains unranked.

Bruno Santos (12 – 0 – 0) defeated Angel Orellana (2 – 1 – 0) by unanimous decision.  Santos would go on to beat Vitor Nobrega in the semifinals and Julio Cesar dos Santos in the finals.  Orellana, who had back to back wins prior to this loss, remains unranked.
