Kazakh fight against American in UFC ended with brutal knockout

Posted on April 22, 2023 by A. J. Riot

Ethnic Kazakh from China Sairan Nurdanbek (39-10) performed at the UFC 287 mixed martial arts tournament in Miami (USA, Florida). Nurdanbek fought with American Steve Garcia (13-5). This fight took place in the featherweight division and was scheduled for three rounds. It ended with the victory of the fighter from the USA by knockout in the second round. Thus, Steve Garcia won the fourteenth victory in his professional career, and Sairan Nurdanbek suffered the eleventh defeat. As for Nurdanbek’s performances in the UFC, he spent five fights in the largest promotion: his record is three wins and two losses.

The fee of Sairan Nurdanbek (39-11) for the fight with American Steve Garcia (14-5) at the UFC 287 tournament in Miami (USA) has been announced. For this fight, Nurdanbek earned $27,000 ($22,000 guaranteed fee, $5,000 sponsorship bonus). As for the payout to his opponent, Garcia received $71,000 ($33,000 guaranteed fee, $33,000 win bonus, $5,000 sponsorship bonus).

Sairan Nurdanbek (39-11), an ethnic Kazakh from China, who competes under the auspices of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), impressed Canadian welterweight mixed martial arts fighter Mike Malott (9-1-1) with his activity. Malott published a post on social networks, in which he noted the fact that Nurdanbek very often holds his fights, describing Sairan’s actions with the word “madness”. “Nurdanbek had 50 professional fights, but made his professional debut only in May 2016. In 2017 alone, he fought 18 times! This is crazy,” wrote the Canadian.

ACA Vice-President Aslanbek Badaev explained why the city of Sochi was chosen as the venue for the Grand Prix final between Artem Reznikov and Eduard Vartanyanю Reznikov and Vartanyan will fight on June 16 this year as part of the ACA 159 tournament in Sochi.

“Why is the tournament with the main fight between Vartanyan and Reznikov going to be held in Sochi? This tournament is best at the moment in Kazakhstan, but we abandoned this idea, because Mairbek Khasiev (ACA founder – editor’s note) considered that we give an advantage to one of the participants by fighting at his home. I think that in Armenia this fight would be loud, but now we are not planning to go to Armenia. The third place is Moscow.

But the calendar so happened that we are holding a tournament in Moscow in April. We have already compiled this calendar in advance and simply told the fighters when you are ready to fight. And it just happened that they would be ready then and ready to fight there. And to take to transfer, to take to change cities – yes, theoretically it is possible, but, on the other hand, this is just the same opportunity where we can pump Sochi. So let them fly not to Moscow, but to Sochi, especially the summer season. Let them spend, support, travel and get sick,” Badaev said in a video posted on the ACA MMA YouTube channel.

Reznikov advanced to the Grand Prix final as a result of a submission victory over Andrei Koshkin in December 2022 as part of the ACA 150 tournament. Vartanyan became a Grand Prix finalist as a result of a technical knockout victory over Yusuf. The American YouTube channel Upkick MMA commented on the fight between ethnic Kazakh from China Sairan Nurdanbek (39-11) and American Steve “Bonebreaker” Garcia (14-5).

Garcia impressed with his determination. He took punches from Nurdanbek in the first round and then made a hell of a comeback and timed it. I like these fights. It’s a pity that this fight was only the second in a row in the early prelims, says the author of the channel.

The author of The Double Leg YouTube channel noted one of the features of Sairan Nurdanbek (39-10) before his fight with American Steve Garcia (13-5). Nurdanbek is very powerful, he hits very hard. He can hit even when hit on him. But the problem is that he fluctuates a lot in the stance – he only throws two significant punches per minute, and takes three at the same time – it turns out a negative difference. He is not overly confident in his standing skills. Garcia can simply crush Nurdanbek in the standing position with a total volume of punches, the author of the channel believes.
