Dustin Poirier vs Conor McGregor Odds

Posted on June 7, 2021 by A. J. Riot

It looks set to be a summer of trilogies in the world of combat sports, with one of the UFC’s headline acts being the third meeting of Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor.

The pair are set to meet for the third time with one victory apiece to their names respectively after two meetings in their professional careers.   McGregor won the first meeting between the pair back in 2014, winning via TKO in an explosive first round victory in Las Vegas, while Poirier was victorious in the second round of their meeting in January of this year.

With the pair locked at one win each after two meetings, it’s clear the bookmakers are having a tough time picking a favourite between the two.  If you are interested in betting on this fight, be sure to check out Max Free Bets first. They are your one-stop shop for all of the best betting offers and free bets that are available with the best bookmakers in the industry. Whatever your betting interest is, Max Free Bets will have a site that fits your criteria.

What’s certain is that regardless of which bookmaker you use, you won’t get a big difference in price on either fighter to prevail as the winner. There is an almost unanimous split down the middle in terms of who they believe will win, with the majority of sportsbooks giving you equal odds of 10/11 on each fighter to win the fight.

Looking at the two bouts, each fighter has got the upper hand of the other in pretty convincing style in each of their victories, making this a pretty unpredictable fight to call. Recency bias will dictate that Poirier may well have the upper hand, but the huge fanbase behind McGregor could be the main cause of the even odds on both sides.

McGregor has one win in the UFC since 2016, coming against Donald Cerrone in January 2020 and also lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018. The success of his whiskey business has also put into question McGregor’s hunger to still compete and succeed at the highest level of the sport in comparison with his peers.

When it comes to the method of victory, odds have been released in a double chance nature. The current odds of the method of victory are presented like so:

  • Conor McGregor by KO/TKO or on Points – 5/6
  • Conor McGregor by KO/TKO or Submission – 6/5
  • Dustin Poirier by KO/TKO or on Points – 6/5
  • Dustin Poirier by KO/TKO or Submission – 6/4
  • Dustin Poirier by Submission or on Points – 7/2
  • Conor McGregor by Submission or on Points – 6/1

If you fancy the draw, it is available at 50/1, though we are leaning towards the idea of this being decided before the end of the fight. A defeat would almost certainly signal the end of McGregor’s career in the UFC, while Poirier could be the first man to beat the Irishman twice in the UFC.
