WHR Parlays – The Rest of March…

Mar 14, 2024
Jason

We debuted the “WHR Parlay” series recently and you can view that here.  We got so very close to hitting and as a result, I thought we’d try again.

An issue with the parlays, is that there are a lot checkboxes that a fight must tick off to qualify.  Therefore, I am combining multiple events in one post and am also opening it up to all of MMA.  Though there is not much betting action on non-UFC fights (as far as I can tell), if they qualify and I have the info, I will throw them in.

In this post, I will also throw in a second parlay… a collection of the best bets (favorites included).  This one is a bit more subjective as I need to “draw the line” on the amount of fights to include.

Without further ado…

  • Only bouts with the following criteria are considered:
    • Both fighters must be active (fought in 360 days prior to event).  Reduces uncertainty.
    • Both fighters must be rated in the same division as the fight.  Further reduces uncertainty.
    • Both fighters must have at least 1 draw or 1 loss.  Unblemished records have no known “ceiling”.
  • Our odds are “composite” odds — an average of many major bookmakers.
  • This is not “vanilla” WHR (although it is very advanced by default).  Read the FAQ for more info.
  • As WHR is an Elo-variant, I’m using the same win probability formula as is the standard in Elo.  If one of you math nerds has a better approach, please let me know.
  • “Odds Win %” does not factor in the juice.
  • If the “FM Agree” column is “YES”, the standard ratings agree with WHR that the underdog is indeed the underdog and vice-versa.
  • Don’t blame us if you lose money.  Gamble at your own risk.

Not really many options for tonight’s card.

Michal Materla is probably the best bet for today that I have odds for.

If you are desperate to bet something for today… there’s Materla…. Filho and Tybura are OK options.

Maybe I’ll refresh and re-create this post next week… Maybe include a third option… a ‘big favorites’ parlay of some kind?

Worth noting that Tybura was teetering on making the ‘underdog’ post. He was +102 when I looked earlier in the week… now he is -107.

Before asking where a specific fighter is ranked or why they aren't ranked:

- We update the rankings once per week, usually on Sunday or Monday.

- Fighters who have not fought in 450 days or more ARE NOT RANKED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

- Use the "Fighter Search" option in the upper-right of the page. The fighter may be ranked in a different division.

- Most of the divisions have multiple pages beyond this one. See the clickable ranges above and below the ranking table.

Furthermore, we do not maintain the "next fight" data. This is gathered from Sherdog. Any issues regarding this data should be forwarded to them.
