3 Fatal Mistakes That You Must Never Commit While Betting on Combat Sports

Posted on April 25, 2020 by A. J. Riot

Combat sports have a peculiar way of drawing in viewers. Watching the battle of the fierce fighters is not only exhilarating but also an adrenaline-inducing experience. Over time, the high passion turns into a great hobby, and one develops the urge to stake a bet while waiting for the outcome—however, it’s often a meticulous procedure that you need not rush into so quickly. Instead, you ought to take time, learn the fundamentals, know the odds, the betting markets, and, most importantly, avoid making silly mistakes. Are you ready to identify the errors that you ought to avoid? Read on:

Choosing to ignore the athlete’s condition

As a dedicated punter, how well do you know your professional fighters? It would surprise you that most people have minimal or zero clues on fighters they are about to choose. Thus, it ends up costing them a bet and ultimately hating the entertainment activity. You ought to familiarize yourself with the conditioning of each fighter as it affects their speed, output, as well as endurance.

You ought to know about the current physical condition of each competitor, as it will affect their fighting stamina. As you are ready to wager any bet on any website, including Beste online casino, be sure to check the stats critically as well.

Pro Bouts: 2019 vs 2020

Posted on April 22, 2020 by Jason

Pro Bout Counts

April has an asterisk, because it isn’t over yet, so I took the pro bouts for the month (15) and projected the month’s total.

Technically, the more recent a bout is, the more likely it is that we don’t have the results yet, so 2020 is at a bit of a disadvantage.  I figure I have 50% of the results within 30 days, with the other 50% coming later — but I should have about 90% within 60 days.

Either way, the above statement doesn’t make 2020 any less depressing for MMA fans.

Here it is by week #, if interested.

Who Should be Next for Tony Ferguson?

Posted on April 22, 2020 by A. J. Riot

In the modern era of the lightweight division in the UFC, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson have been on a collision course since 2015. However, almost five years later, the two have yet to be in the octagon together at the same time. So, after five failed attempts, who should be next for Ferguson?

The Nurmagomedov Fight Still Makes Logical Sense

Despite years of trying, UFC spectators around the globe have yet to witness the highly-anticipated lightweight fight between the reigning champion and the current number-one contender. At the time of writing, the bout has been booked and canceled on five separate occasions for numerous different reasons, including ligament injuries and issues with weight management. Fundamentally, when feasible, the fight between the undefeated champion and El Cucuy, who holds the record for the most consecutive wins at lightweight, needs to happen, with many now hoping that the sixth attempt will prove to be the one that ultimately sees the two compete in the octagon.

While there are other options available to Ferguson, most notably Justin Gaethje, it perhaps makes the most sense for the California-born athlete to sit tight and wait for Nurmagomedov. The 36-year-old American last suffered a defeat in the octagon back in May 2012 when he lost to Michael Johnson in a unanimous decision. Since then, El Cucuy has beaten some of the organization’s most well-known names in the division, including Anthony Pettis, Edson Barboza, and Rafael Dos Anjos. Moreover, and perhaps most impressively, the former interim champion has finished each of his last three fights.

What does it take to become a professional MMA fighter?

Posted on March 29, 2020 by A. J. Riot

You may have been an MMA fan for many years.  And like myself, you may be perfectly fine with being just a fan, following your favorite fighters in their conquests from the comfort of your living room couch. But there are some fans who may yearn to strap on a set of gloves, tuck in a mouthpiece, and step into the cage themselves – as a professional MMA fighter. But what does it take to become a pro in this strenuous and often chaotic sport? Read on to find out.

A background in martial arts

MMA stands for ‘Mixed Martial Arts’ – as the name suggests, the sport is a mixture of various martial arts and combat sports. To succeed in MMA, at a minimum you need a base art which specializes in grappling (e.g, wrestling, judo, or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) and another art which specializes in striking (boxing, karate, Muay Thai just to name a few). Of course the most successful pros have years of experience in multiple arts.  For example, Anderson Silva – widely considered as one of the greatest fighters in the short history of the sport – has a background in Taekwondo, Muay Thai, and boxing, along with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. But quality matters more than quantity; once you’ve mastered your striking and grappling base, you can explore other arts and bring in the best elements of each system into your unique fighting style. The arts most fitting for MMA are the ones where participants do live sparring with each other, as merely doing katas does not prepare one to fight a resisting opponent. To date, wrestling and BJJ have been the most successful grappling base arts for MMA, while boxing and Muay Thai are among the top striking bases.

There is simply no denying that boxing is one of the most popular combat sports in the world. It is a sport with a long history that comes attached to millions of fans and spectators. Of course, only as time has passed and TV and the internet became more prevalent, it only added to the wide-spread reach of the sport. In fact, with the wide availability of the internet and online casinos, gamblers can now place bets on fighters and fights right from the comfort of their own homes. Not only has this made boxing more convenient, but it has made betting on it more versatile. Gamblers not only can now bet on the outcome of the fight, but they have tons of other platforms to gamble on as well. Whatever the situation is, boxing and gambling will always be linked. And, if you want to make the most of both, you are going to need to pick up some betting tips along the way.

Learn More About The Boxers

As the popularity of boxing has spread so has the sport. The sport has always been big, but now it would be nearly impossible to know everything that you need to know about the fighters. In today’s realm, many fighters hold belts, there are many belts in several different weight classes, and there are always up and coming fighter climbing the ranks. It would be literally impossible to know everything you need to know about every fighter. This is why you have to do your research before any fight. Don’t just rely on the win/loss record of the fighter. Know his fighting style and what motivates him as a fighter. Is he fighting for his country, his family, or maybe just to make a living?
