Inside the Rainbet-Joshua Van Deal: What the UFC Champion’s New Sportsbook Partnership Signals

Posted on September 2, 2026 by A. J. Riot

The sportsbook industry has shown growing interest towards combat sports, and the partnership between Rainbet and Joshua Van is in line with this trend. This is not just another famous UFC fighter. Joshua Van is the UFC flyweight champion right now, a very young player with a rapidly progressing career and an interesting life story, which makes him a great fit for a partnership with Rainbet. The goal is to build campaigns, content, and interactions around athletes rather than just use them as logos.

Why Joshua Van Matters

Van went from a promising UFC prospect to champion very fast. Van won the UFC flyweight championship in December 2025 after Alexandre Pantoja injured his elbow early in the fight, resulting in Van’s victory. He then defeated Tatsuro Taira in round five of his first title defence bout in May 2026. Now, Van is the flyweight champion and has plans to defend his belt against Pantoja on September 19, 2026.

Van is a young star compared to many of the current champions of the UFC. He is only 24 years old and is the second-youngest champion in UFC history. His personal background adds to the story, being born in Hakha, Myanmar and trained as a professional fighter in the US.

As a result, his story will not be limited to a singular sports fan base but will easily reach people all over the globe. For Rainbet, having a competitive and developing athlete in their roster is incredibly valuable.

  • Van quickly went from prospect to UFC champion at just 24 years old.
  • Being born in Myanmar to training in the US gives his story international reach.
  • A young and competitive champion with room to grow gives Rainbet significant long-term marketing potential.

Combat Sports Fit Betting Brands

There is a simple reason sportsbooks keep returning to combat sports: the product and the marketing story are closely linked. A UFC event creates a long build-up to one clear moment. Fighters have camps, interviews, press events, weigh-ins and face-offs before the action starts. Betting platforms can attach content to almost every step.

The UFC itself has also become a major commercial platform. Fans often follow athletes, not just teams or leagues. A fighter can therefore carry a sponsor from a live event into Instagram, YouTube, short-form video and interviews. For sportsbooks, this is more more flexible than buying a standard sports sponsorship.

What Rainbet Gets

The obvious gain for Rainbet is association with a UFC champion at a time when the company is building a combat-sports identity. Already, the platform has incorporated names from the UFC in its marketing. Justin Gaethje became one of its ambassadors in July 2026. Sean Strickland followed Gaethje and became a Rainbet ambassador in August.

Incorporating Van will make things even better for them. Rather than being associated with just one fighter, the sportsbook can tell a bigger story about itself by associating with the UFC through multiple athletes. The reason is that athlete associations can build an actual story for the brand. One advertisement can provide attention for a day. Several athletes can create a theme that will be repeated throughout various fight tournaments and social networks.

The sportsbook can use Van’s title in their advertising during major events. The message is clear – the brand is closely connected with the elite of the combat sports. Those looking to explore the betting product can also bet on UFC at Rainbet using the sportsbook platform.

What Van Gets

The value extends beyond the sponsorship fee for Van. The association with Rainbet means that the athlete joins an elaborate commercial operation. He will not only rely on promoting himself but will also get into commercial campaigns that will include production, media and social media.

This may facilitate transforming fight success into commercial success. Van is just starting out in his career in the UFC. This means that commercial success is essential in the development of the sports career. In addition, the timing is perfect since the fight against Pantoja will take place on September 19.

The critical aspect for the fighter is maintaining creativity. In order to succeed in this campaign, the athlete must maintain his personality in the process. This is particularly true in MMA.

The Deal Is Familiar

The market shows why a Van partnership would make sense. In June, Stake announced UFC flyweight Tracy Cortez as a global ambassador as part of a push to grow its presence in MMA. Covers described the move as another step in Stake’s combat-sports strategy.

Rainbet’s own recent activity follows a similar path. Gaethje brought an established UFC name and strong fight-night recognition. Strickland added a champion with a very distinctive personality and media profile. Van offers something different: a young champion whose commercial story is still being built.

There is also a bigger difference between fighter deals and league-level sponsorships. UFC’s multiyear agreement with bet365, announced in March 2026, covers the full organization in the U.S. and Canada and includes broadcast, digital and live-event integrations. An individual fighter deal is much narrower, but it can also be more personal. The brand gets a face, a voice and a story rather than only a large media property.

Point Significance
Joshua Van Young UFC flyweight champion with a fast-rising profile. Strong fit for Rainbet’s growing MMA presence.
Combat Sports UFC events offer constant content and promotional opportunities. Gives sportsbooks more ways to engage fans.
Rainbet Already works with UFC names like Gaethje and Strickland. Van strengthens its combat-sports brand.
Timing Van faces Pantoja on September 19, 2026. Creates a strong promotional opportunity.
