Four strong MMA fighters who entered the ring late

Posted on November 13, 2024 by A. J. Riot

Aging is a difficult stage for everyone, especially for athletes and fighters. In this article, we will introduce you to four outstanding MMA fighters who started their training at a more mature age. Below you will find a list of late beginners based on the age at which they started studying. If you think you’re too old to start training in MMA, you might want to reconsider your opinion.

By the way, today secure online casinos give high odds in bets on age-related athletes. Gambling club clients also receive free bonuses. This double advantage helps you win large sums of money. Top virtual casinos provide players with access to live broadcasts of all matches.

Junior Dos Santos first declared himself in MMA at the age of 21

Junior Dos Santos Almeida is a Brazilian mixed martial artist and former UFC heavyweight champion. He has defeated five UFC champions in this category: Fabricio Werdum, Frank Mir, Cane Velasquez, Shane Carwin, and Stipe Miocic.

Before becoming a professional MMA fighter at the age of 21, he worked as a dishwasher in Brazil. His kickboxing debut took place just three months after he started training. In his youth, Junior practiced capoeira, and serious MMA classes began later, when he began studying Brazilian jiu-jitsu under the guidance of Yuri Carlton. Despite the fact that he started MMA relatively early, his success and winning the UFC title surprised many.

Frank Shamrock entered the MMA ring at the age of 22

Frank Shamrock is an American professional MMA fighter who ended his career. He became the first UFC middleweight champion (which was later renamed the UFC light heavyweight title) and retired, remaining a four-time undefeated champion.

During his UFC middleweight championship, Shamrock held the number one position in the world in the pound-for-pound rankings. He has also won numerous titles in other organizations, including the interim King of Pankration title, the WEC Light Heavyweight Championship belt, and the Strikeforce Middleweight title.

Nate Quarry started his MMA career at the age of 24

Nathan Parker “Nate” Quarry is an American MMA fighter who ended his career and became famous for participating in the reality show The Ultimate Fighter from the UFC, as well as as a co-host of the MMA Uncensored Live program. Having grown up in a religious family with strict rules, he had no opportunity to play sports, including martial arts. As a result, he started training at the age of 24 and had his first professional fight at the age of 29.

Matt Mitrione started training at the age of 28

Matthew Steven Mitrione is an American mixed martial artist and former American football player. He became famous for his participation in the show The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights. Mitrione defeated such rivals as Fedor Emelianenko, Roy Nelson, Derrick Lewis, Gabriel Gonzaga, and Kimbo Slice. He is famous for his right-handed knockouts, although he is left-handed in everyday life.

As a child, Mitrione practiced Shotokan karate and even participated in several professional kickboxing tournaments as a teenager, but began training in MMA only at the age of 28. Having no experience in professional mixed martial arts fights, he was selected to participate in the 10th season of The Ultimate Fighter in 2009. Although he lost in the quarterfinals, he was given the opportunity to fight Marcus Jones, and he won this match.
