#10 – #6
#10 – Mark Kerr (Rep Avg: #103.7 | Fight Matrix: #169)
Kerr, undoubtedly a credible heavyweight for a short period, simply doesn’t have the substance to justify a ranking at the threshold of the Top 100.
#9 – Vitor Belfort (Rep Avg: #30.0 | Fight Matrix: #49)
Now, here’s our first interesting entrant. Only 19 positions separate the average from the Fight Matrix ranking, but a relatively important 19 positions. It’s still close enough to where it is tough to split hairs between the #30 and the #49, but for a guy that has often come up short when it REALLY mattered, #30 seems a little bit high.
#8 – Ricardo Arona (Rep Avg: #71.3 | Fight Matrix: #119)
One of the biggest enigmas in the history of MMA, Arona certainly had the potential to be higher on this list and is probably given a little bit more credit than he actually earned due to the unfulfilled potential.
#7 – Nick Diaz (Rep Avg: #37.0 | Fight Matrix: #62)
So, I’ve got some genuine shock with this one. There was definite agreement between the three rep lists that we are underrating Diaz and I just don’t see an argument for him to easily be slated as a Top 50 fighter. Perhaps it is the “win” over Gomi that holds up in the minds of many? Maybe I’m missing something else? Help me out.
#6 – Keith Jardine (Rep Avg: #103.0 | Fight Matrix: #190)
Our #103 is Frank Shamrock and I think this shows how much higher Jardine is on the rep lists than he actually should be.
