#26 – #16: The Most Overrated MMA Fighters of All-Time: Part 1
If you missed the first part, you can visit it w/ the link above. It has all of the details about how this list came to be.
#15 – #11
#15 – Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (Rep Avg: #80.0 | Fight Matrix: #117)
Not a huge leap from #117 to #80. To be at the 14 spot in this list and to only see this kind of gap, either speaks volumes about how representative our all-time rankings are, or vice versa. The area around #100 is REALLY crowded with “almost greats”.
#14 – Jeremy Horn (Rep Avg: #92.3 | Fight Matrix: #137)
#13 – Guy Mezger (Rep Avg: #100.3 | Fight Matrix: #150)
If Mezger doesn’t get ripped off in the Sakuraba fight, maybe he earns a few more positions and doesn’t make this list. As it stands, the rating system sees this as a loss.
#12 – Evan Tanner (Rep Avg: #90.7 | Fight Matrix: #138)
Analyzing in the rear-view mirror, his time at or near the top was very short. I’m sure there’ll be some thoughts regarding him being 1 spot below Horn, who is at #13. The quantity/quality clash is an unconquerable beast. Tanner definitely accomplished more in a single division, but Horn spread his cards out all over the place and for a long time.
EDIT: A data issue was found with Tanner after this was posted, he’s actually at #111. As a result, he’s listed about 10 spots too high on this list.
#11 – Gegard Mousasi (Rep Avg: #63.7 | Fight Matrix: #100)
Still climbing our list is Mousasi, who has shown accomplishments in two divisions. I think it is too early to see him as high as #63.
