The two rankings again are eerily similar, with the first notable difference being Rashad Evans. But what a mess it is, overall.
Sherdog decided to honor the Evans/Davis result, keeping Rashad Evans above Phil Davis, boosting them both above the entire division sans the champion. Our system although keeping Evans well ahead of “Little Nog”, docked him for that loss, keeping the Davis/Machida chain above him. In a perfect world, Machida would have won the decision against Davis and we’d be having a different discussion.
The rankings are exactly the same until you reach the “Next 5”. While we both agree on Mousasi and Newton, we exclusively have Jackson, Johnson, and Sonnen, while Sherdog has Te Huna, Silva, and Vegh. Personally, I think Jackson although on a slide, deserves to get in over Silva. Admittedly, Sonnen and Johnson are more or less “speculative” adds based on what they have done in other divisions, while Vegh just misses our list at #16, and Te Huna being down at #21.
So, who did it better?
