  1. steve Says:

How is Vinny ranked above Eliot Marshall? Vinny lost his last 2 ufc fights one of which was to Eliot.

  2. oc wrestler Says:

how is shogun #6 he “beat” lyota machida he should be #2 or #3 guy

  3. jcs Says:

Just read that the Lombard fight actually happened at 185, he’ll be back to 185 on next update.

  4. jcs Says:

Its arguable whether or not we should have left Lombard at Light Heavy…. I could see both sides of the argument.

  5. Jordan P. Says:

they do rankings by what weight class you last fought in. and i’m glad lombard lost some points overall. he looked like shit in that fight.

  6. Jacob A Says:

Why is Hector Lombard ranked at LHW, isn’t he a middleweight holding that divisional belt in a few companies.

  7. DJT Says:

Nice to know, thanks for the response. The Mercer issue isn’t because he is a boxer or because of his age. I personally think that high level boxers with the right training can be competitive in MMA. The only issue I have is he has only one fight and though I realize who he beat, I just don’t see it warranted. As far as Vera and Jardine go I was basing it on recent performances, such as this year. Again, despite my belief on where I think them or anyone else should be ranked I do enjoy this website immensely and I always look forward to the updated rankings.

  8. jcs Says:

‘Big 15′ refers to their records in what we conclude are the top 15 organizations.

The 540 Opp % is an experimental metric that’s meant to be a secondary metric (at the most).. perhaps even a tertiary one.

Quality Performance % is a career measure.

Jardine beat Vera and has shown recently that he can beat a higher quality opponent. Although he has more recent losses, they are to pretty highly rated opposition and thus, not quite as damaging. Jardine is just higher than Liddell (17th) and Vera (19th) who he recently beat by split. He lost recently to Wanderlei (13th), Jackson (2nd), and Thiago (10th). I see absolutely no problem with either Jardine or Vera’s rankings based on the objective results.

Mercer is 14th Heavyweight because he beat Tim Sylvia, who himself was in the Top 15 at the time of the bout. If Mercer wasn’t in his late 40s and known as a pro boxer, I doubt many people would have a problem with this.

  9. DJT Says:

I very much enjoy this website but I think the way the rankings are computed need to be tweaked. I used to think it was pretty accurate now I just don’t understand how they get to where they are. One example of many is Jardine being ranked over Vera, looking at the statistics they are both 3-4 in the last 3 years but Vera is 9-4 against top 15 and Jardine is 6-6. Vera is better in Quality Performance and 540 opponent strength percentage. Why have those statistics if they aren’t valued to distinguish the rankings? Is Vera the better fighter, I don’t know but statistically it seems he is. And I don’t want to beat a dead horse but Ray Mercer the 14th heavyweight? How would you justify a computation of that? Just my thoughts.

  10. George Says:

    Sounds fair
