Video: Jon Jones and Anderson Silva Sparring
This Saturday, Jon Jones will make his return to the Octagon at UFC 214. In the past week, there have been rumors of Jones moving up a weight class to take a superfight against Brock Lesnar, should Jon be victorious against the current light-heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier. Not sure how likely this fight is too happen, but it would be an interesting matchup of styles, even if Jones loses to Cormier.
Another superfight I would have loved to see Jon Jones in a few years back would have been against Anderson Silva. Since that is one fight we will likely never see, the closest we get is this footage of the all-time greats engaging in some fun and friendly sparring:

Mayweather or McGregor – can McGregor defy the odds?
The worlds of MMA and boxing have both been lit up at the prospect of the upcoming fight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather, as it features two fighters of genuine distinction in their respective sports. There has been an awful lot of talk about the fight, with much of it coming from the two fighters themselves, who have indulged in some seriously entertaining trash talking on social media sites over the past few months, but it will soon be time for the talking to end and the fighting to get underway. With just a month left until the fight takes place, can Conor McGregor spring one of the biggest upsets in boxing history?
Given the degree of excitement that there is about this fight it can be easy to forget how much of an underdog McGregor is going into it. Very few boxing fans or pundits give him any chance of winning, given that he is coming up against a vastly experienced boxer who has a professional record of 49 wins from 49 matches. Of course, McGregor’s record in the MMA is pretty good too as he has claimed 21 wins – 18 of them knockouts. Thus he clearly has talent, with his style based on hard counterpunches, and he also has a definite age advantage over Mayweather. Irishman McGregor is 28, making him more than a decade younger than 40-year-old Mayweather – who has emerged from a two-year retirement for this fight. McGregor’s approach is likely to be relying on taking his fancied opponent by surprise with this tactic and exploiting any early rustiness that Mayweather displays, but it is hard to see this being quite enough for him to emerge as the winner.

Could You Qualify Online for the Official Strongman Games?
Training Strongman recently announced that they will be hosting the Official Strongman Games in Raleigh, North Carolina. The event will take place at the Dorton Arena, and this year the majority of the spots will be given out in an online strongman competition. So, anybody with enough strength and basic equipment can take part.
The strongman news came earlier this month that there would be seven World’s Strongest divisions in this year’s games, along with a Giants Live qualifier, which offers a tour spot. The men’s divisions include the under 80kg, under 90kg, and under 105kg, while the women’s divisions are the under 64kg and under 82kg. The Giants Live is an open men’s competition.
The structure of the 2017 Official Strongman Games marks a major step forward for the inclusiveness of the sport. This will be the first time that all the weight divisions, as well as the men and women’s titles, will have contests on the same weekend at the same event.
The format serves lower weights well, and a couple of the competitions are open to those who wouldn’t usually consider it. Tennis superstar Andy Murray, for example, who currently has 4/1 odds on BetStars of winning the U.S. Open, has a pretty intense strength training regime. Could we see a rise of athletes who usually focus on other sports coming to the forefront of lighter divisions?
