Thanks interesting link but I think those rankings are also sufferring from the hangover effects of the Fedor era. Even in my updated versions I have Allistair and Werdum ranked very high. This is only because of the way they have entered the UFC in style against real challengers like Brock and Roy. I don’t think either guy will dethrone JDS. I think Cain and JDS may split among many fights but it is too close to call and for now I would have liked to see Cain have another matchup first against Roy, Frank or the Werdum vs Russow winner to get another shot. Silva is not even the Strikforce Grandprix Finalist I hardly think he deserves the spot as UFC titleshot gatekeeper. As or more happy and excited to see Struve vs Miocic coming up as I was for Cormier vs Barnett, but no less interested. If Brock came back into my rankings right now by magic he is number 10, bumping Fedor.
Brent, I don’t think we will ever do a fan vote based ranking. Here’s a site that does a fan vote Top 10, if you’re curious:
http://www.mmaplayground.com/top-10-mma-fighters.aspx
1 Junior Dos Santos, Cain Velasquez, Alistair Overeem, Frank Mir, 5 Fabricio Verdum, Travis Browne, Roy Nelson, Stefan Struve, Mike Russow,
10 Shane Carwin, Daniel Cormier, Mark Hunt, Stipe Miocic, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, 15 Ben Rothwell, Chieck Kongo, Josh Barnett, Antonio Silva, Cole Conrad, 20 Fedor Emelianenko
I would love for this site to hold a vote where the fans vote on each division like this to help sort out who is who at the top? Showcase us in the historical section under a fans rankings category. Feel free post what you think..
Sorry mamba is fast than dos santos
Lesnar vs velasquez 2 and the winner fight for the belt if lesnar return and overeem vs the white manba cigano
perhaps arlovski can fight vs brett rogers again
good fight is kharitonov vs cormier in strikeforce, cormier win kharitonov is real that guy is very good fighter, the real black fedor
what about pat barry in the lightheavyweight division is too small for big guys.
[...] be for Cormier to join the division. Couple that with the fact he’s currently ranked the 4th best heavyweight in the world by fight matrix, behind JDS, Velasquez and Overeem, and you’ve got a very viable contender. [...]
